Quote Jar | DIY

Today’s post is a bit different- a little DIY that is perfect as a present or simply a gift to yourself. With going back to school gently approaching, it would also make the perfect thing to cheer you up through the next school year. So today, here is this quick and simply DIY happiness jar.

I made mine as a gift for a friend. I thought it was a lovely idea and something very unlike other boring presents. It was also really affordable to make, so matched with some chocolates- it seems to be the perfect pressie.

To begin, you’ll need a jar of some sort. Now, you could recycled a jar you’ve used whilst cooking, or simply buy one. EVERYWHERE seems to do Mason-style jars (cheapest I’ve seen is in Home Bargains but I’m sure other cheap stores such as Poundland do), but I picked up my jar in The Range.

Next, I got onto decoration. My jar came with this sweet lace tie, but you could do this with some ribbon or lace yourself. Then, I made the label. I did this by cutting a label-shape out of some lilac card and then a small rectangle of white. I glued the white on and used a spotty washing tap as the border. To finish, I wrote the message on my label- I decided to use some typewriter inspired stick on letters.

Then I started to fill up the jar with my quotes. Depending on who this is for, you can really personalise this stage- you could fill it with Disney quotes, Harry Potter references, lyrics or even Bible quotes perhaps. I decided just to use a range of quotes, using my Pinterest quote board and other ones on the site.

I wrote out my quotes using coloured pens, and I tried to vary the use of capitals, normal writing and large handwriting-inspired text. I also wrote on a range of coloured papers, as I liked the colourful effect within the jar.

When I finished each one, I cut it out and rolled it up- sticking it with a rip of spotty washi tape.
Continue this until the jar is full- and by this time you’ll probably feel all happy and motivated due to being overly exposed to positive quotes.

And there it is, so quick and simple but I feel a lovely thing to have. You could make this for yourself and pop it on your desk, so when you’re feeling a little overwhelmed, you can read a positive thought.

I’d love to hear you’re feedback on this DIY- I know it is quite easy but, as something completely different on my channel, I hope you liked it.

Have a brilliant day my lovelies and I’ll see you soon,
